I am amazed by the fact that, no matter how many paint jobs I've done, and situations I have encountered, I still make a very human mistake: deviate from the fundamentals! I am currently working on a project in which I was trying to help the customer stay within a specified budget. I thought that I could by-pass the "proper" preparation methods of sanding and cleaning, and just use a "bonding" primer, that claims to stick to anything.
Well.... with very little effort, the paint could easily scrape right off.

I now have to scrape all of these (20) doors and sand them like should have been done in the first place. The point I'm making is that, though it may seem to be easier (and cheaper), deviating from the fundamentals can end up costing you dearly.
So....even "Pro's" screw up! Feel free to comment on any similar situation you have encountered, and the lessons learned - or ask a question about a problem you are having with a project....
